Ingredients of Garlic Breadsticks:

  • First Stage
  • 2 tsps sugar
  • 3 tsps active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • Second stage
  • 1 1/2 tsps Italian seasoning
  • 4 cups flour
  • 4 1/2 tsps garlic salt
  • 1 stick butter melted
  • as needed Warm water,
  • Third stage
  • 2 nd bowl greased
  • Egg wash (beaten egg plus tablespoon water), parsley

Method for "Garlic Breadsticks":

  1. Put first stage in bowl, mix well to activate the yeast
  2. Add stage 2 EXCEPT water, and mix
  3. Slowly add warm water while mixing til a soft mound of dough forms
  4. Knead for a minute making sure its mixed and a soft mound
  5. Transfer to the oiled bowl
  6. Put a warm damp cloth on it
  7. Rest for 1 hour
  8. Preheat oven to 400 degrees
  9. Knead 30 times, divide dough into 4
  10. On a lightly floured surface roll dough out to 1/4in thickness and slice (pizza cutter is great) to desired length or your pan length
  11. Place sticks on a greased pan
  12. Repeat 10, 11 til your dough is gone
  13. Brush with eggwash and sprinkle with parsley
  14. Bake til golden brown (10 to 30 min) (sorry my mountain life affects cooking time on everything as we have thinner air and more pressure)
